Procrastination Cure: How to Stop Putting Things Off By Just Saying Them

Every time you say you are going to do something, you are actually just putting things off.

This is because when considering how to stop putting things off, just saying you will do something will not get you anywhere nearer to achieving what you intend to achieve. All goals are achieved in the doing, meaning that you have to take action and work towards your goals.

I am a fan of setting and achieving goals, I talk about it a lot in my videos. But just by writing down your goals or creating a plan is a worthwhile exercise, this alone won’t achieve the result without taking action and working towards your goals.

It is sometimes possible to achieve your goals by just working on them without a plan, such as joining a gym or starting to train a sport. This is explained in Maxwell Maltz’ book Psycho-Cybernetics. You simply create a target (your intended result) and begin working towards it whilst letting your brain  and body course correct, similar to how a guided missile works when it travels towards the target.

However for a complicated goal such as changing your career or starting a new business, it is always best to create a results based plan first so that you have more detail on how to approach working towards the result that you want.

But the work only really starts when you begin working towards your goals.

Watch the video to find out more insights on why it is important to not just set goals or state them, you must begin working on them if you are to get the result that you want.

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”
